Introduction to Woodcut Printing Woodcut printing is one of the world’s earliest and most widely used printmaking techniques.  Learn the technique mastered by artists such as Leonard Baskin, Helen Frankenthaler, Kathe Kollwitz, Franz Masereel and  Jose Guadalupe Posada. Using easy to cut Shina plywood blocks and non-toxic, water-based inks, we will examine different approaches to line-work and mark making from graphic and angular to painterly and gestural.  We will learn image preparation and transfer methods, sharpening and care of tools, wood carving methods, ink and paper preparation, rolling techniques, printing on a press and by hand.  Sign up here!
