Non-toxic Century Plate Litho Workshop Part 1 at Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop

I will be returning to my favorite printshop in NYC- Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop this fall! In Part 1, I will demonstrate how to grain a reusable Century Plate like a lithographic limestone, prepare a registration maquette and printing paper, transfer images and draw directly on the plates with a variety of media, etch and process with bio-based, biodegradable materials, roll out ink and print on the litho press(es).

Non-toxic Century Plate Litho Part 1 Class at Worcester Art Museum

We will cover all the steps in four evening sessions - from graining a reusable Century Plate like a lithographic limestone, preparing a registration maquette and printing paper, transfering images and drawing directly on the plates with a variety of media, etching and processing with bio-based, biodegradable materials, rolling out ink and printing on WAM's litho and relief presses.

Flights of Fancy: Collagraph Printmaking with Intaglio and Monotype at New Bedford Art Museum/ArtWorks

Referencing the beautiful, intricate hand-colored engravings of John James Audubon (currently on view at New Bedford Art Museum!), we will build our own avian-themed collagraph plates (based upon photographs, drawings/paintings or imaginary) using inexpensive PETG plates and common household recyclables. Collagraphs can incorporate numerous techniques, from embossment/de-bossment, to stencils, collage and drypoint engraving.  We will experiment with intaglio and monotype printmaking techniques to create boundless variations of color, textures and tones.    Saturday September 29  10 am-4 pm      See newbedfordart.org to register

 

Century Plate Litho Workshop Part 2 at Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop

I will be returning to my favorite printshop in NYC- Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop again this fall! In Part 2, we will experiment with tusche and toner washes and Posi-coat, a non-toxic, biodegradable, positive-working photo emulsion.

Building Up Meaning: Collagraph Workshop at Mosesian Center for the Arts 

Collographs can be an exciting combination of relief printing, intaglio, embossment/de-bossment and monotype printmaking. Create plates with common household recyclable materials to print with non-toxic, water-soluble inks. Bring in recyclables to re-purpose and a selection of items that are texturally interesting (organic or man-made: plant forms, feathers, fabric, netting, paper, etc.) and dive right in to experiment with shape formation and color interaction. All other materials included.

Printmaking for All at Mosesian Center for the Arts 

In this inter-generational family workshop, participants will experiment with color-mixing, drawing and shape-making while learning two very fun and versatile printmaking techniques: monotype and collograph. This course is suitable for adults accompanying teens and children of all levels of artistic ability.

Printmaking Open Studio & Print Clinic at Worcester Art Museum

Start a new project or bring older projects to re-work - monotype, intaglio, collagraph, relief printing....anything goes.  I will give you as much or as little guidance as you need - technical difficulties welcome!

Century Plate Litho Workshop Part 1 at Guttenberg Arts

Get ready, Jersey for a three-day introduction to Century Plate Lithography at Guttenberg Arts in Guttenberg, New Jersey. Guttenberg Arts is an incredible community art space equipped with a printshop, ceramics studio and gallery....and is also the home of Paper Crown Press and Carrier Pigeon Magazine!
Guttenberg Arts is easily accessible from the NYC area (only a half hour bus ride from Port Authority), New York State and Pennsylvania.
