Broadway Blooms Editions

on Wed, 01/26/2022 - 20:25

In May 2020, British sculptor Jon Isherwood and I completed a series of three silkscreen editions to compliment the planned installation date of his Broadway Blooms.  Delayed by trans-oceanic supply-chain congestion, on  August 2, 2021, the Broadway Mall Association launched Broadway Blooms: Jon Isherwood on Broadway, a sculpture exhibition at eight locations on the green malls at the center of Broadway from 64th Street to 157th Street.

Jon Isherwood: Silkscreen Monoprints

on Wed, 01/26/2022 - 18:05

Last winter and spring I had the pleasure of collaborating on a series of seven silkscreen monoprints with British sculptor Jon Isherwood.  Jon's fantastic, large-scale, Italian marble sculptures can be seen world-wide and his Broadway Blooms are gracing eight locations along the Broadway Malls between 64th and 157th Streets in New York City through spring of 2022.  Jon's painterly, experimental approach and lively temperament made this project a treat to work on.

A Change in the Light - Exhibition at The Clark

on Tue, 03/02/2021 - 00:26

On View: February 13 - May 16, 2021

I was invited by the Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, MA to create several cliché-verre plates to illustrate each step for two processes, one which uses lithographic ink and the other oil paint as the bases of the photographic glass negatives.  The plates were then printed by photographer Jonathan Kline on light-sensitive photo paper using archival processes.  The plates and prints can be seen in the didactic display case of this exhibition.

Here is a description of the exhibition below, from The Clark's website.

Hot Off the Press

on Mon, 07/22/2019 - 19:07

Over the years, many students have suggested that I create a book from my detailed and many-paged instructions for learning Part 1 of my Century Plate Lithography classes and tutorials.

Now you can purchase my instruction book, Non-toxic Century Plate Lithography Part 1 in printed or E-book formats from Blurb.com and from me directly.

Non-toxic Century Plate Lithography Part 1 introduces printmakers to a new, sustainable and environmentally friendly way to produce high-quality, professional, hand-pulled lithographs without using toxic and petroleum-based materials.

Century Plate Litho Super-Intensive at EFA-RBPMW

on Mon, 07/22/2019 - 18:45

Century Plate Lithography is going International! I spent the weekend of July 13-14 teaching a short and very intensive non-toxic Century Plate Lithography Part 1 class at EFA-Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop to two artists from the Summerworks Residency Program of Art Hub Copenhagen/EFA-RBPMW (Moa Alskog, Anne Louise Blicher), a founding director of KKV Graficworkshop printshop in Malmo, Sweden (Vera Ohlsson) and an artist from Union City, NJ (Ruben Duran).

The workshop was a super-intensive due to covering a lot in a short amount of time.

Bucolic Printmaking Weekend at Snow Farm

on Mon, 07/22/2019 - 18:20

I spent a gorgeous three-day weekend teaching a group of very talented artists during my Experimental Printmaking class at Snow Farm in Williamsburg, MA June 7-9.  We covered relief, intaglio, monotype, collagraph and chine collet printmaking techniques and experimented with combining some or all of them to create colorful, textural multi-layered prints using non-toxic materials, recycled objects and water-soluble ink.

What a great way to start the summer!  Stay posted for more photos of the wonderful work my students produced in the Galleries pages on this website.

Century Plate Lithography Demonstration at RISD

on Fri, 11/16/2018 - 23:08

I demonstrated Century Plate Lithography, a non-toxic and sustainable process using bio-based, biodegradable etches and processing materials at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD)'s Printmaking Department on November 6.  I am thrilled that they have adopted Century Plate Litho for the rest of the semester, in place of ball-grained plates and the traditional, toxic and petroleum-based chemistry.

Century Plate Lithography Demonstration at Bennington College

on Wed, 12/20/2017 - 18:57

Corinne did a Century Plate Lithography demonstration for Thorsten Dennerline's lithography class at beautiful Bennington College in Vermont this past fall.  She really enjoyed meeting the class, working in their light-filled and well-equipped print studio and spending time with her hosts, Thorsten and Print Tech and fellow Tamarind-trained printer, Michael Smoot.  (Photo credits: Mike Smoot) Less than two weeks later, student Sara Emerson produced this fabulous new Century Plate lithograph (below) - impressive!
